Ask the Band / High School Choir Help
« Last post by ddthirteen on January 16, 2015, 10:39:36 pm »
Last summer when you guys came to Chicago, you (along with a local radio station) held a contest for a local high school choir to sing with you guys on stage. The high school choir (Elk Grove High School) that won was my favorite of all the contestants and got my vote in the contest even though my alma mater (Adlai E. Stevenson High School) was one of the other schools. I was wondering if you guys were interested in having a local high school "show choir" help you guys with some background vocals when you come to Waukegan, Illinois this March. As a proud parent of a member of the Mundelein High School Sound, Lights, and Sound FX Show Choirs I'd like to nominate them for the job. They had a fund raising event on last summer's Chicago date and therefore couldn't compete in the contest then. I may be biased but I think they could have won. That would have been great considering that I had a "Meet and Greet" ticket for the Chicago show (which was a blast). I already have my "Meet and Greet" ticket for the Waukegan show. So maybe it could work out this time. Any way at all, I'll see you guys there! Thanks!

That song is pretty much a full time staple in the set-list.  I think you'll be good to go.  What section are your seats?  I'll be there too.  Best Wishes!

Ok, we now have the product courtesy of CD Universe. Paid a little more in the hopes there might be a "Deluxe" version out there for our European friends, but that does not appear to be the case. That said, what we have here is very good. While Nightlife was never among my favorites and I would have preferred "I'm Gonna Win" or "Don't Let Go"  there can be no debating that the song is performed extremely well. Blistering, you might say. The song I was looking forward to the most was "Woman in Black". It is given a very solid, faithful treatment and is strong. Small part of me was hoping the guitars might get stretched a little beyond the studio version but I don't hear that. Where I do hear it is "Break It Up". Wow! They killed this one. More powerful than I was expecting. Took some liberties with it, all for the better. Happy with "Girl on the Moon". Nothing over the top, just a classy, clean representation. Will say I think Tommy's "Urgent" solos on previous live releases show off his extraordinary talent a touch more than this one does. Faithful to the studio portion as always, but his own signature licks are better on the Vegas and Nashville releases. One other item that jumped out at me. The drums on Hot Blooded. Ever since we lost Jason, Brian and Marc, the drums have just sort of been there. Good to hear them powerful, out front and with Chris Frazier featured  prominently. The overall sound of this recording clearly has some new technology involved and is incredibly crisp. Props to Jeff Pilson on the producing job. Also props to Bruce Watson and certainly Mick for some very nice guitar work. This is a good get and am happy to finally have my hands, and ears on it. Merry Christmas to all and a very Happy & Healthy New Year. JC
