Wow, Jennifer did have the happiest birthday!!! So sorry I didn't have my camera ready for the birthday song!!!!!!
I will be happy to add to Jennifer's review -- have been meaning to do this since Sunday!
First of all, thanks to all the Foreigner fans who made the trip to Effingham!!! We had a great turn out!!! Jeff and David came from Texas and Chicago respectively, Jennifer and David from the Chicago area, Margaret and her friend from Kenosha, Karen Phelps and her husband from Nebraska, Cheryl Farmer and her friends from Waterloo, Trish from near St. Louis, my sis from Texas, brother-in-law and friends from Phoenix, and family from Edwardsville IL. Our local crew included Lisa, Jan V., Bonne, some boyfriends, husbands, and kids; Pam and myself!
Pam and I had put out 100 road signs and tons of posters a couple weeks prior! We wanted to help get the word out!!! EPC did a great job with radio ads including a live interview with Tom! TV ads and newspaper inserts plus on-line marketing and the place was almost full!!!
We all met at the Firefly Grill, had some drinks and food. Lisa and I had decorated both Firefly the VIP room at the Performance Center. We did red and silver heart balloons; and black -- some round, some stars -- wanted to be festive!!
The first group left to go to the VIP event around 6:30. Got our bags, badges and tickets. The VIP lounge had appetizers and we had some time to relax and socialize. The band came in a little after 7 and everyone cheered and lined up for photos. When Jennifer's turn came, the band and fans sang "Happy Birthday!" Very cool!!! Jennifer definitely had "stars in her eyes!!!"
The guys were all just as nice as could be and seemed happy and relaxed. They stayed for a while and chatted with fans, posed for pictures and signed some memorabilia. Robin did an awesome job of coordinating the event and was snapped in quite a few photos, too!
We moved into the theatre and found our seats for the opening act -- Taylor Wagner. She was lovely and sang some country tunes!
When she finished -- people started moving up to the stage!! Before the lights even dimmed, there were several hundred people down there!!!! The venue had advertised that fans would be standing and rocking out! They offered to reseat anyone who was not happy! The stage is perfect -- hip high and no barriers! Cameras were fine and we were ready to rock!!!
Foreigner exploded onto the stage playing Double Vision to a lot of cheering and screaming!! The band was just full of energy and rocked so hard!! Most of the audience stood all evening -- lots of dancing in the aisles, too!!! Setlist included the usual songs with an acoustic version of "Say You Will" which was just so lush; a rockin' version of "Can't Slow Down," "Blue Morning, Blue Day," and "Long Long Way From Home!" Every song was awesome!! "Urgent" was amazing!! Tom outdid himself -- he always does a fabulous job -- this time was even a notch above!!!! Wow!!!!! All the guys rocked so hard! They really interacted with the crowd -- lots of energy going back and forth!!! Michael and Mark did a super key/drum solo before JBH!!! Excellent! The sound was just perfect!!!!!
Kelly's vocals were strong and clear, Jeff was just wonderful on both bass and acoustic guitar! Bruce did a great job! Tom was awesome on keys, guitar and sax!
The Effingham High School Choir did a stellar job of singing " I Want to Know What love Is!" The band walked them to the front of the stage for a bow!!!!!
"Hot Blooded" took us home!!!! There was a huge amount of yelling, screaming and whistling!!! The band walked off the stage smiling and I think concert goers were smiling just as big!
What a great night!!!! Wow!!!!!
The EPC was delighted and the audience loved the show!!!!!!! Woo hoo!!! A big thank you to Foreigner for coming to Effingham!!!! A huge thank you to the EPC for bringing Foreigner to us!!!!
It was just awesome to see so many people from the board!!! So nice to meet and see everybody!!!!
