The Paramount Center for the Arts Peekskill NY 9-15-12
« on: September 17, 2012, 11:30:33 am »
Yes I know a review from me!!!
I have been a bad hero member!
It has become so easy to talk to everyone on Facebook and give play by play as the show enfolds
I promise to go back and update a review of the past shows I have been to recently  :)

Okay this was my 14th show this year...can you say intervention!!!
I usually do about 10 a year but this tour has been so fantastic and fun!
No triple bill has a lot to do with it!

The event was the annual red carpet gala for the arts center's annual fundraising.
This meant all the good seats went to the heavy spenders!
No problem as you know I will not be denied!
I managed to get a pair of front row seats for Deb and I , the last two seats extreme right in front of Tommy, I'll have to make do!
Interesting thing was the stairs that led to the stage were right at my feet, hmmmmmmm!!!!!!

So the lights go down, the smoke is lifting from back stage, a familiar voice says "ladies and gentlemen will you please welcome Foreigner!!!" Yay our boys come out ready to rock
Ok so hot band on stage with guitars blazing and NO ONE is standing! Christs sake am I at a casino!?
I look at Deb she looks at me and we jump to our feet! Luckily the seats curved around so we weren't blocking anyone's view! We sing and dance and jump and scream!!!
Bruce, Jeff and Tom came over by us one by one and gave us our welcome.
At one point Kelly comes down the stairs where I am standing puts his arm around me and leans in and says something in my ear!!!
OMG I don't know what he said because I had ear plugs in since we were near the monitor lol!!!
Kelly if you are reading this please tweet me what you said lol  ;)
It is now a few songs into the show and still NO ONE is standing besides Deb and I representing!!
He addresses the center scetion where all the sponsors were sitting stating I know your heavy wallets are probably weighing you down and you can't get out of your seats.
I yell, "we're standing because we have no money!!" lol!
Kelly says to the crowd I know you are probably used to maybe seeing and opera, or an orchestra or a play here but this is a rock n roll show and you should get off your asses lol!!!
That's all it took! Everyone gets up finally and rushes to the front of the stage yay!!!

Mick was not back. We had hoped he would be there since he wasn't in Virginia the night before.
One of the crew told us they were just as disappointed as we were but that we should see him at one of the shows this coming weekend, here's hoping!!!
Mr. Bruce Watson costinues to do an outsatnding job filling him for him! So much energy, talent, charisma and oh my those eyes!
Jeff rocks out like nobody else can and Tommy's ever present smile and those ever changing talents Kelly mentions that Tom does with his hands oh my!
Kelly was stellar as always! He will not give up until he has the audience at his command! All the ladies up against the stage got plenty of love from him, especially this one!  :-*

The crowd was pretty liquored up from a pre party open bar event so all sorts of antics were happening!
It was girls gone wild at one point.  One by one women were walking up the stairs on the left hand side.  It was pretty hysterical! One girl had Kelly's mic stand and was pretending to sing. Assorted others were just on stage doing their best stripper dance.  This amazon Khloe Kardashian type was onstage and Kelly puts his arms around her waist and hoists her off the stage too funny! Assorted crew members kept comimg on stage to get them all off ummmm hello security!!!

Derek Hilland was on keys.  I have known him over 10 years from going to see Rick Springfield.
He did his best to fill Blue's big shoes.  He even started his keyboard solo just like Blue does!
I do miss Blue's energy since he is so interactive during the show but he will be back in the new year yay!

Chris Frazier is the new drummer, formerly of Whitesnake up until Tichy stepped in.
In the beginning of his solo he did a Tichy homage with the drumstick bouncing up into the air.
The middle of his solo his pretty cool with the white lights flashing quickly kinda like a strobe light.

Again we are sooo spoiled with Blue and Tichy, Schulman, Bonham....
These guys are still wet but I am sure as they get more shows under their belts the magic will be there  :)

Same set as usual DV, HG, CAI, Waiting for a girl like me, Blue Morning, DWB, Say You Will, FLFT, Urgent, Jukebox, Long Way, IWTKWLI, HB

There's less than a month left to this year's tour!
Get out and catch a show if you can
Especially this weekend for my annual birthday tour!
My 15th, 16th and 17th shows MA, RI, MD!!!
Jeff did I break your record yet  :)
I am tallying up my total number of shows in the past six years
Not sure if I should be proud or worried lol!
I love these guys, I love this band and I especially love the friends I have made here along the way
xxoo
Gina
ps I especially love KH hahaha :::swoon:::

Awesome review Gina!!! You were in front of Tommy, that's my favorite spot!!! ;) I know that smile just makes me melt & I think I'm going to need a cold shower after that part of the review!  ::) I don't understand how people can sit at their concerts, the energy they just makes me go nuts!!!
I'm hoping we can score tickets for the Chester, PA show & if we do it's on the right side!  ;) If I go this will be my 10th concert in 2 years, I will make double digits...8th concert this year! Pretty expensive year with the tickets & hotel stays for all 8 shows, but so worth it!! I'm with you Gina, it's been so great to meet so many new friends that I now consider family!! I do have a couple of family members yet to meet, they know who they are!  ;)
I love the guys, music & my friends too!!! Let's keep rocking for many, many more years!  ;D

Jennifer  :D

Gina: What a great review! Thank you very much for taking the time to write! It is always wonderful to read all the reviews since it makes us feel as if we had actually been there with you.

I don't understand people who sit down during a rock concert. I only sat once. That was during the Queen/Paul Rodgers show and I was heavily pregnant with my son Paul. It was 4 weeks before my delivery. I think this is a good excuse. ;)

Enjoy your upcoming birthday shows! :)

Tatjana :)

That is a great review Gina! I don't understand why people would sit at a rock concert. Last year at Wembley when Foreigner were on stage, some guy behind me asked me to sit down because he couldn't see. No way! The need to be on my feet rockin' is like a compulsion once these guys start playing.

I need a Foreigner fix too,Mick! It's been way too long! Hopefully next year......

Finally a Gina review! Great review, thank you for taking some time away from facebook! Speaking of which, I haven't been on in over a week. Work is very crazy right now and I just got home from putting in a 12 hour day! The overtime is great though, I guess, and it will help pay for shows next year...looking like it will be next year before I get to see a show again. So Gina, I do believe you've passed me up this year, and over the past 6 years you do have an edge on me! Anyway, my writing is going every which way at the moment because working a twelve hour day makes one kind of, well, not sure which direction my brain is going right now...

Talk to everyone soon, and again, Gina, thanks for a great review!

Jeff

Like Jeff, I won't see them them till next year (April 20th) in Riverside, Cali to be exact. Anyway thanks for making us feel like we there with you as well.

Enjoy your upcoming shows and birthday celebration. I know you will no doubt about it.

Loved reading your review, Gina - awesome!
I bet that you will never use earplugs again, right? It would make me mad not knowing what Kelly said.
These seating charts in the States remind me of a show in Westbury. Everybody stayed in their seats but Nicole and I were standing all the time. The people sitting behind us have been warned by us before the show and were really nice and understanding.
Enjoy your B-day-tour and thanks again for taking the time to entertain us   ;D

This is so funny. We have the ultimate groupy here on this board. You are the "Penny Lane" of Foreigner for sure. Glad you had a good time, but girl you need a life outside of going to see a cover band 20 times a year. I know, it's only rock and roll, but we all love it.
Let me whisper in your ear, do, da, do.

First of all JCC I do have a life!
I have a successful career at Merrill Lynch, own my own home, sing in my church every Sunday, have tons of friends and seeing this "cover" band is just one of my favorite things to do.
Because of this "cover" band I have made friends that I have met or talk to on a daily basis that will last a lifetime!
Deb, Diane, Jan B, Jenn, Jane, Jeff, David, Nick, Babs, Anne, Bea, Eunice, Rho, Becky, Cheryl, Deana, Heather, Jill, Karen, Kevin, Lisa, Margaret, Mark, Michelle, Mike, Nicole, Steph, Mick, Pam, Rika, Tatjana, Shannon, Sherry, Steve, Jon, Sue, Nikki, Yvonne, Barbara and anyone else I might have forgot!
I have been a fan of Kelly Hansen's since 1986 and i will continue to support anything he is involved in.
Why are you such a hater and concerned with what I do with my life!?
The term groupie is just demeaning to me as a female period.
I go to see many other bands besides Foreigner if you knew me you would know that
Concert photography is my passion.  My photos have been used on websites, calendars, posters, promo photos, facebook and venue websites.
Maybe your life is so empty and pathetic that you felt the need to rain on mine....
"People only rain on your parade because they are jealous of your sunshine"

You're 62 years old go pick on someone your own age dad!

Now you really are funny. I work for NASA and don't need to go to concerts to make friends. Like I said in the first place, I am glad you had a good time. Lighten up and chill. You should be laughing, not justifing yourself.

I have plenty of friends outside of Foreigner world.
I do not need to justify anything
But saying I am a groupie and need to get a life I find offensive.
You can pick on the cover band all you want we've heard it enough and find it humorous!
But personal comments are not cool message me next time...
To know me is to love me :-)

Hey Gina (and anyone else who is reading!)...
I haven't been on this site since it changed from the original format like 10+ years ago, but after reading your post on FB about someone attacking your hobby, I just had to see it.

I agree with everything you said, I think that "to each their own" and just because you enjoy going to concerts doesn't make you a groupie, anymore than me reviewing beers makes me an alcoholic! Everyone has to have something that is fun in their life, and if I could go to Foreigner concerts as much as you can, I would TOTALLY give up reviewing beers, and probably a lot of other things too! I LOVE that you get to do it as often as you do, because you share your experiences with the rest of us super fans!

Keep on doing your thing, keep on rockin', and keep on posting photos and videos! I get to live vicariously through you, and I much appreciate it!!  ;)

Never posted on the board from my phone, hope it works! Don't get me started on that cover band stuff & just because you love a band & enjoy their music doesn't make them a groupie! We have become like a family because of our love for great music & the nicest band in the world! So we get offended when you put the band down or one of us, we stick together! This not meant to start a battle with words just had to add my views on this subject! GO GINA!!!! :)
