Tim's 2014 Tour Report
To many people Mick Jones is a legend, hero, Rock N’ Roll God, genius, and most recently a Song Writing Hall of Famer. To me Mick Jones is my boss. My name is Tim and I am Mick’s assistant. Join our travels as we circumnavigate the globe from Tel Aviv to Tuscaloosa in 2014.
It would stand to reason that if you were the lone navigator in a car driven by Mick Jones, there would be only one question you would ask during your trip: “How did you guys come up with the name Spooky Tooth?”.
At least that’s what comes to my mind. Driving around the green glens of Scotland together gave way to myriad discussion topics. The soundtrack to our ride was the Everton/Arsenal game, and over a shared bag of Maltese’s, Mick told me how band member Gary Wright wrote the poem “Spooky Molciah’s Tooth” in college while studying a tonal poetry. This class assignment ended up giving way to one of Rock N’ Roll’s most interesting band names. I also learned that the song Jukebox Hero was a combination of the song “Take One Guitar” and a new hook Mick was working on called Jukebox Hero. He joined the two songs together, and that offspring became one of the biggest hits of all time.
