Foreigner Rocks Queen Latifah Show, Announces New Nov. 15th Deadline for "Get Pitch Perfect" PSA Campaign

Los Angeles, CA  - Foreigner brought down the house on Monday’s top-rated Queen Latifah Show when they were joined by The Belmont High School Choir in celebration of their Public Service Announcement campaign in partnership with the GRAMMY Foundation®, supporting music education called "Get Pitch Perfect with Foreigner and the GRAMMY Foundation." This campaign, aimed at heralding the importance of music in schools, asks high school students across the U.S. to submit a 15-30 second video PSA telling their stories of high school music programs and music educators that have inspired them. The deadline for submission is November 15, 2013. Students are encouraged to tell their personal stories of teachers who have motivated them, important lessons learned through music, and why music education has been vital in their educational paths. The background music of the PSA should be a Foreigner song of the school's choice, performed in any style by the school choir.

One winning PSA will be chosen by Foreigner, longtime partners of the GRAMMY Foundation and advocates of music education. The creator of the winning PSA will receive a $10,000 grant to their high school's music and/or audio/visual department, and their PSA will be shown on www.GRAMMYintheSchools.com. Applicants are asked to upload their entries to YouTube and then email the link to psa@grammy.com. More information can be found at www.GRAMMYInTheSchools.com.

Says Foreigner's Mick Jones, "Music education is of paramount importance. We are thrilled to partner with the GRAMMY Foundation in a program that will allow students to tell their own stories of how music has played an integral role in their lives, just as it has in ours."

This partnership marks a longtime relationship between Foreigner, regional high school choir programs, and the GRAMMY Foundation with whom Foreigner has joined in its mission to foster music programs in our nation's schools. Foreigner works closely with high school choirs in each city they play, inviting an area high school choir to join them on stage, and donating funds raised from CD sales to both these choirs and the GRAMMY Foundation. Foreigner has donated in excess of $400,000 to this and other children's causes over the past several years.

Campaigns like "Get Pitch Perfect with Foreigner" are just one of the ways the GRAMMY Foundation supports music education, and their initiatives include a range of GRAMMY in the Schools programs for high school students, teachers, and schools.  Visit www.GRAMMYintheSchools.com to learn more, and visit www.GRAMMYMusicTeacher.com to find out more about the Music Educator Award established by The Recording Academy® and the GRAMMY Foundation to recognize current educators in kindergarten through college who have made a lasting contribution to the field of music education. ABOUT THE GRAMMY Foundation:

The Foundation accomplishes this mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community as well as the general public. The Foundation works in partnership year-round with its founder, The Recording Academy, to bring national attention to important issues such as the value and impact of music and arts education and the urgency of preserving our rich cultural heritage.
