Foreigner Rocks The Billboard Top 200 Chart
Foreigner once again hits the Billboard charts this week with two albums in the Top 200. This milestone comes on the heels of unprecedented accolades surrounding Foreigner and it’s founding member Mick Jones’ induction into The Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 13th, and as the band continues with its sold out European tour. Juke Box Heroes (2011) has already achieved the highest chart position for an album consisting of digital re-records of previous hits in the history of the chart. No End In Sight (2008) celebrates its eighth re-entry into the Billboard Top 200. Last week, the Foreigner catalog outsold those of Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen and most of their Classic Rock peers (source: Nielsen SoundScan, July 21st, 2013).
This year has brought Foreigner a resurgence in popularity with fans both old and new, enjoying downloads up 400%, and Facebook fans nearly doubling as the band's Facebook "likes" passed the 1 million mark.
Foreigner has connected with an entirely new legion of fans in 2012-2013 – with nearly 40% of Foreigner Facebook fans in the Millenial generation - thanks in part to hits Juke Box Hero, Waiting For A Girl Like You and Feels Like The First Time being featured in Hollywood hits like “Rock of Ages,” “Magic Mike,” and “Pitch Perfect”, and shows like “The Voice.”
