Chicago, IL – WTTW is pleased to present a new 60-minute concert special, FOREIGNER LIVE AT THE SYMPHONY, airing on WTTW11 on Sunday, June 17 at 10:00 pm (with a repeat on Friday, June 22 at 11:00 pm) and streaming now through June 14 on pbs.org and wttw.com. This special will also air on PBS member stations across the country throughout June and July 2018. Please check local listings below for dates and times.

Shot over three nights in Lucerne, Switzerland in May 2017, rock ‘n’ roll legends FOREIGNER are joined by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, conducted by Ernst van Tiel. Celebrating 40 years of chart-topping hits, the band performs “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold as Ice,” “Blue Morning, Blue Day,” “Waiting For a Girl Like You,” “Starrider,” “Double Vision,” “Urgent,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.”

FOREIGNER charts new territory with Foreigner with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, as the best-selling album tops the Billboard Classical Album Chart and inspires sold out tour dates.

FOREIGNER’S recent European tour included sold out shows at London's Royal Albert Hall, in Tel Aviv, Hamburg, Reykjavík and a return to The Kultur und Kongresszentrum in Lucerne where the band has now played four shows to sold-out audiences.  In addition to this, the band's appearance with the National Youth Orchestra of Australia has already sold out the iconic Sydney Opera House, and it will play to full houses all over Australia and New Zealand in October 2018.

The current members of Foreigner -- Mick Jones (guitar), Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards, vocals), Bruce Watson (guitar, vocals) and Chris Frazier (drums) – and their classic rock style meld perfectly with the symphony and chorus on the band’s well-known uptempo tunes and soaring power ballads alike. The concert’s sold-out crowd of FOREIGNER fans take part in the show as well, lifting their voices in song with Hansen and the chorus during the inspiring finale while waving lighters and smartphones. Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime event!

Says Mick Jones: “I could never have imagined when I set out to create Foreigner 40 years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later.  Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer’s orchestral arrangements have shown us a new symphonic dimension of our music, which I hope our fans will enjoy.”

“WTTW has been a producer and presenter of quality music programming for more than 40 years,” said Dan Soles, the station’s chief television content officer. “We are very pleased to have the privilege of bringing yet another fantastic concert to our audiences, on air and online.”

FOREIGNER LIVE AT THE SYMPHONY is directed and edited by Skip Masters. Executive Producer is Joe Thomas.

This summer, Foreigner will be joined by WHITESNAKE and JASON BONHAM’S LED ZEPPELIN EVENING for the 2018 twenty-nine city “Juke Box Heroes Tour” that kicks off on June 15th in Bangor, Maine.  This is destined to be one of the hottest tours of the summer and tickets are now available at LiveNation.com
