Foreigner Live Auction Items Net $30,000 for Speedway Children's Charities-Texas!

Live, On-Stage“Waiting For A Girl Like You” Serenade By Lead Singer Kelly Hansen Was Top-Selling Item At $9,500

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 10, 2012) – Foreigner raised nearly $30,000 with four select auction items, including a unique on-stage serenade by lead singer Kelly Hansen, during Monday night’s Foreigner Acoustique: Classics Unplugged concert to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas at the Flying Saucer in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square.

The serenade was the top-selling auction item as it fetched $9,500 for Hansen to serenade the winning bidder on the Flying Saucer’s outdoor patio stage with Foreigner’s mega-hit, “Waiting For A Girl Like You” as band members Jeff Pilson and Tom Gimbel played acoustic guitars.

A pair of black Epiphone guitars signed by Foreigner sold for a combined $13,600, with one going for $7,500 and the other for $6,100. A framed replica platinum album of “Hot Blooded – No Limits” signed by the band brought in $6,750.

Overall, the live auction earned Speedway Children’s Charities $33,700 as a Texas Motor Speedway race package went for $3,850.  The event total was unavailable at this time until additional sales, including tickets, and expenses are calculated.

“Foreigner has a very special relationship with Texas Motor Speedway and the Fort Worth community since our first visit in 2009,” Foreigner Manager Phil Carson said. “It’s a real thrill for us to help raise money for Speedway Children's Charities and be a part of what this wonderful organization does for Texas kids in need. We were thrilled that the unique items chosen for the live auction captured the fancy and generosity of our fans, especially the serenade by Kelly.”

Foreigner will continue their charitable ways prior to Saturday evening’s Samsung Mobile 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, where they will perform the event’s pre-race concert beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT. From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas volunteers, wearing red shirts, will be selling a combination package of the Foreigner Extended Version CD and a Foreigner/SCC t-shirt for just $20 that also will benefit the charity.

“We are beyond thrilled with the heart-felt generosity that Foreigner has shown toward Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas,” SCC Executive Director Jennifer Henshaw said. “They are a tremendous group to work with and the result was a first-class event that will help children in North Texas.”
