After this kick-start, John soon began touring, writing and recording with Jimi Jamison of Survivor and 80's rock veterans Winger, who he performed with for over 3 decades. In 2012 he joined Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, touring with the band for 13 years and further showcasing his versatility as a Lead Guitarist. In 2025 Roth was asked to join Foreigner and remembers "When I first heard "Feels Like The First Time" on the radio I was instantly drawn to Mick Jones' powerful guitars and Lou Gramm's soulful vocals. These amazing songs were a big part of the soundtrack of my youth, and becoming a member of this iconic rock band feels very surreal. Having the opportunity to perform Foreigner's unstoppable catalog of timeless songs with this incredible brotherhood of musicians is truly an honor and a dream come true!"
